Laying the Foundation
Wellness care is like building a house – certain things have to happen in a particular order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you put up your walls before you lay a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. The same is true for your body. Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of getting you six systems, or "zones" functioning better and a simple method for maintaining how your body functions:
Phase 1: Relief Care
For those who are prevention-oriented, making an appointment to maintain good health and begin wellness care before symptoms show up is a smart plan. Others may make an appointment when they are in a "health crisis." For those who are pain-oriented, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the age, severity of your problem and the amount of cumulative damage we find, it is typical to need relief or intensive care to get you feeling better quickly. We will provide you safe options and affordable alternatives to pills and injections. Please note, everyone is different and your care plan is dependent on your individual goals and needs. Some of our patients complete phase 1 in approximately 1-3 visits. Others may take between 6-12 visits. Our Wellness Doctors will have a better idea after a complete evaluation has been performed for you.
Phase 2: Corrective and Stabilization Care
This important phase begins after relief care is complete or for our wellness-minded patients who are interested in strengthening, fortifying and aligning the spine to remove any interference they may not be aware of yet. During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. It is typical to need care 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months, depending on your overall health goals and the severity of your problem. This process is similar to wearing braces on your teeth. It takes time to change the alignment of the bones in your mouth and if your goal is to realign your teeth, you'll need to wear braces for some time. Fortunately, if aligning the spine and nervous system is important to you, it does not typically take as long or cost as much as braces. In addition, the health benefits of corrective care alignment far exceeds a superficial cosmetic change.
Phase 3: Wellness Care
By far, the most important phase for those who want to be well and preserve their good health. Once your body has fully healed and, if maintenance and prevention is important to you, it will be imperative to come in for periodic adjustments to maintain your alignment your 6 health systems or "zones" (glandular, elimination, nerves, digestive, muscular, and circulatory). This phase is fully customized to you and works similarly to wearing a retainer after the braces have been removed. Usually, this phase only requires a quick visit to your Wellness Expert 1-4 times per month, based on your condition, age, lifestyle and goals. Most of our patients are interested in saving time and money which is why most choose wellness care. In fact, some of the healthiest people in the world choose this form of care and make the Chiropractic Lifestyle an ongoing part of their life (just like maintaining their diet and exercise).
